Pink October is here!

It’s time to mobilize for a cause we care about: breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection 🎀

Throughout the month of October, France (and our islands of the DOM-TOM!) dress up in pink to support this beautiful cause.

But first of all, let’s go back to the origin of October Rose

October Rose, the month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, has been around since the 1990s. It all started in 1985 in the US when the American Cancer Society and cosmetics company Estée Lauder launched a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of early breast cancer screening. In 1992, the pink ribbon was adopted as an official symbol of this cause, worn to remind people of the importance of prevention.

In France, the association Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en! introduced Octobre Rose in 1994. Since then, every October, events, awareness campaigns, races and marches have been organized across the country to educate women on the importance of early detection. Cities and monuments also wear pink as a sign of support.

October Rose is now a global movement, bringing together millions of people for a common cause: fighting breast cancer and encouraging all women to get tested regularly.
